On May 31, 2020, Andy Phillips (AT1310, Drexel University Class of 1990) lost his unwavering & courageous battle with complications from COVID-19. He left behind his wife, Trish, and four children: Andrew (16), Aidan (18), Colin (21), and Grace (23).
Brave Hearts for Strong Minds (BHSM), a Philadelphia-based nonprofit, has selected Andy’s family as 2021 recipients of their annual walk on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Each year the walk helps BHSM support children that have lost a parent or parents with 529 education funds. Andy’s two youngest sons – Andrew & Aidan will be recipients to help assist with upcoming college expenses.
We are asking the brotherhood of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Drexel University community to support the cause and consider joining us for the walk on Saturday, September 18 in Fort Washington, PA (click here to register), and/or make a tax-deductible donation via the form below to support Andrew and Aidan.
Andy Phillips joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity his Freshman year at Drexel University. He left an indelible mark on all of the people who knew him. Andy was a very active fraternity brother, living in the house on Powelton Avenue for 4 years. Andy’s nickname was “Heat”, which he earned from the flowing hair on the top of his head that resembled Heat Miser from the 1974 Christmas cartoon. Andy certainly ‘brought the heat’ as an athlete to TKE through the Inter-Fraternity Association (IFA) sports league at Drexel. Andy played football, basketball, & volleyball for TKE. He led the football at Quarterback to an IFA Championship and the basketball team to 3 IFA Championships.
This campaign has been set up by the hundreds of Andy Phillips’ TKE brothers looking to raise $20,000+ to go towards the college education for Andrew & Aidan. We know Andy had an amazing experience in college at Drexel and we want Andy’s kids to get that same college experience.
