In 2023, we welcome our thirteenth recipient family to the Brave Heart Community.
On November 16, 2022, Michael Essery passed away suddenly. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, Mike was a successful sales professional and baseball coach. Mike leaves behind his wife Laura and three young children, Luke (7), John (3), and Sadie (Newborn).

Michael graduated from Sacred Heart Manoa, Cardinal O’Hara, and LaSalle University (2006). As captain of the baseball teams, he received accolades including All Catholic and All-City honors for baseball. He served as the Haverford High School Varsity Baseball Coach and over the years was involved in many tournament teams, assisted at the Hilltop Baseball league, and coached for Sacred Heart CYO. Mike was constantly giving back to the youth and paying it forward in life.
The board has selected the Essery Family as our 2023 recipients, and will support Luke, John, and Sadie starting now and through our 2023 walk.

2023 Recipients and the Annual Walk
Together with our community, we hope not only to provide support to Luke, John, and Sadie with 529 education plans but also emotionally through the gathering of our community at the Annual Walk. More information about the walk will be released in early Spring. But mark your calendar for June 17, 2023!
